Three minutes of stretching to undo an hour of sitting.

A guided neck, shoulder, and back routine for desk workers. Each stretch is timed: run it every hour and keep the streak going.

· Coach's note ·

Sitting isn't the enemy, never moving is. Three minutes of targeted stretching undoes an hour of hunching: it loosens the upper traps, opens the chest, and reminds your spine what upright feels like. Do it a few times a day and the afternoon crash eases off.

Roll it out.Neck stretches work best when you move slowly and breathe. This head is tilting side to side. Ease into each side, don't yank.

The science behind it

Sitting shortens the front-body muscles (hip flexors, chest) and tightens the back ones; over weeks that's the rounded-shoulder look and the stiff neck. Brief stretching resets that length before it becomes your default shape.

Frequent short sessions work better than occasional long ones because tissue adapts to repeated position, not to occasional correction. Three minutes hourly is enough to keep range of motion where it should be, which is why the streak matters more than the effort.
